Senior Data Engineer
Job Description:
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join us on a permanent basis. We need talented individuals to apply their Data Engineering skills for solving problems with data across a number of critical UK sectors.

The Role you will play
Initially you will work closely with the Chief Engineer, Data Architect, Technical Leads and Data Engineers to form an integral part of a Cloud Migration Team. Our team comprises of a blend of seasoned experts and intermediate level engineers. It is a great place to apply your skills and knowledge, learn new skills, and learn from others and form one of the best performing teams in the business.
Your role will involve:
- Bringing your ideas, innovation, problem solving skills and analytic skills to deliver great data solutions for our customers.
- Adding your data engineering experience and expertise to our pool of talented architects and developers.
- Expanding your skills and knowledge with the latest cloud data technologies.
- Designing, creating, maintaining, and operating data migration, data integration and data processing processes.
- Collaborating with data architects, in-house development teams, external providers and our customers to design, implement and deliver high level data engineering solutions.
- Being self-motivated, able to work autonomously and being able to drive our projects forward.
- Contributing to the creation of project plans and the identification of risks and dependencies.
What Does Leidos Require From Me?
As a minimum you will have:
- Strong experience with Data Related Technologies;
- Strong experience of Data Warehousing;
- Strong experience writing database queries, DDL, DML (Oracle or DB2 knowledge advantageous);
- Strong Data Analysis Skills;
- Experience in Data Security (at-rest/in-transit);
- Working knowledge of Data Platform-related services on at least one Cloud platform;
- Experience of building & maintaining Data Pipelines;
- Good Data Modelling experience to address scale and read/write performance;
- Experience of configuring and using ETL platforms and integrating data;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Willingness to learn and expand your Data skills.
Desirable skills:
- Experience of setting up and administering AWS Data Migration Tools (SCT and DMS);
- Experience of working in an Agile Development Environment;
- AWS Certification
- Experience of using the Atlassian suite of tools (JIRA, Confluence);
- Familiarity with Python.
