We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Operational SQL Database Administrator, with Cloud Knowledge and Experience, to join our growing team of IT experts in delivering high quality IT Services to our government and commercial customers. You will be self-motivated and be able to work autonomously to achieve day to day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables, whilst also owning a variety of activities ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPI’s and SLA’s. You must be an effective communicator, comfortable directly engaging with customers and colleagues. You will also demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges.

The role provides predominantly remote Database Support with occasional on-site requirements. There is also a requirement to provide out of hours on call support on a rotational basis. You will also be expected to contribute towards the creation and ongoing maintenance of technical documentation and, while primarily supporting the operational service, also be able to provide material to support change projects if required.
This is a full time, permanent position with Hybrid and Remote working opportunities.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
As a Database Administrator, you will be a prominent member of the Company’s Database Administration team, managing Databases across our National Security portfolio, providing support to day-to-day critical business activities.
The successful applicant will:
Maintain smooth operation and implement changes following best practice;
Implement and maintain backup and recovery solutions to support RPO and RTO Objectives;
Analyse customers’ incident and problem tickets within strict Service Levels;
Liaise with Senior Internal Stakeholders, Clients and other third parties to ensure that their requirements meet your development in the most efficient and cost-effective manner;
Liaise with Change and Release Management functions to enable the smooth transition of solutions from Test and Pre-Production into Production;
Provide accurate estimates for their own work;
Understand and apply a formal quality approach;
Produce both customer-facing and internal knowledge base documentation as required in line with company and customer standards;
Participate in and facilitate knowledge sharing between Support, Development and Service Delivery functions;

WHO DO WE NEED?
We are looking for a dynamic individual with experience in Operational SQL Database administration who has a knowledge and understanding of Cloud Technology. You will be self-motivated and able to multi-task in line with customer SLAs. You must be comfortable speaking at a technical level to technical and non-technical teams and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
You will have:
Solid experience as an Operational DBA (Preferably SQL Server);
Deep knowledge of Database Administration;
Experience and/or Knowledge with Cloud technology (Preferably Azure);
Experience and/or Knowledge of Data Pipelines and ETL/ELT process;
Practical knowledge and experience of database High Availability solutions;
Proficient knowledge of Database Design and Database Server Infrastructure;
General knowledge of Windows Server, Unix and Linux environments;
General Security Awareness & Understanding;
Experience of Database Migrations;
Experience of Query Performance Tuning;
Excellent Communication Skills with all levels of staff both internal and external stakeholders;
Excellent organisational skills and a keen eye for detail;
Ability to pick up and learn new technologies quickly;
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, pressured environment;
Analysis and solving of Incidents and Problems;
Excellent planning and organisational skills.
