Production Controller and Planning Engineer

Job Description:

The Security Enterprise Solutions, Civil Group of Leidos is seeking a Production Controller and Planning Engineer who is seeking a position in a dynamic environment.  Under moderate supervision, the Production Controller and Planning Engineer is responsible for activities that span the entire planning and procurement cycle.

What you’ll be doing:

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and carrying out the accurate material planning and forecasting for ongoing projects utilising tools such as MRP to assist in these tasks. You will also be responsible for managing the flow of manufacturing orders and ensuring that material and time bookings against those are accurate.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with internal customers and stakeholders to ensure enquiries are addressed for manufacturing, service and projects

  • Work with engineering and manufacturing on Bill Of Material (BOM) review and analysis

  • Maintain reports and monitor material movement throughout manufacturing and inventory processes

  • Support the purchase requisition process, monitor and communicate progress through the process across multiple departments

  • Conduct follow-up with buyers, planners and requestors regarding completion of open Purchase Requisitions or Manufacturing Orders.

  • Work with Managers to plan and manage production

  • Review production plans and schedules to identify and report potential risks

  • Avoid shortages and excess of equipment and material

  • Review production requirements and establish priorities and schedules

  • Monitor progress of manufacturing orders by planning and monitoring material movement in production

  • Plan equipment and material needs for manufacturing orders and service/spares

  • Work with Management in resolving production planning and control issues

  • Prepare job order documents and give timely approvals

  • Work with cross-functional teams to complete job orders on-time and within customer specifications

  • Work with Product Line Management, Service Technical Support, Manufacturing and Sustaining Engineering on end of life (EOL) item lifecycle.

  • Communicate production updates to management on regular basis.

  • Assist in processing customer orders and shipments according to the established schedule

  • Other related tasks reasonably expected by the business

Basic Qualifications

You will have a thorough understanding of material planning and ERP/MRP tools, together with relevant experience gained from within a production/manufacturing business or environment;

  • Understanding of ERP and MRP tools

  • Experience of ERP systems such as SAP, JDEdwards, Deltek, Syspro, Epicor or similar

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing methods and assembly processes

  • Detailed project planning of Manufacturing Operations and Processes

  • Excellent Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Great organization and communication skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Positive attitude and a willingness to progress into tasks of greater responsibility

  • Must be a UK/EU Citizen

Although the role is to be based from our Bedford facility, the successful candidate may be required to regularly travel to other locations within the UK and worldwide, therefore a valid passport and full UK/EU driving licence is mandatory.

Please Note: - This role will be based in Bedford, UK and suitable candidates will need to be within commuting distance of our Bedford facility.
