SUMMARY:

The Software Systems Engineer  plays an important part in our company’s product development process. The engineer will join the Enterprise Engineering team and be responsible for enhancing and evolving the software solutions to meet the requirements of organisation.

You will be an experienced software systems engineer with a good background in delivering software projects. Within our team, you will work closely with the Enterprise Architect to document and capture architecture and its correlation with requirements during early SDLC phases, defining the system solution for the software specific elements of a security screening management system  connecting diverse and varied security screening equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Technical

  • Work on information systems by developing, installing, and designing software solutions

  • Decide operational practicability by reviewing analytical reports; carrying out problem definition; and developing solutions

  • Record and display solutions by enhancing the development of documents, flow charts, and layouts, as well as diagrams

  • Work on and install solutions by designing system specifications and programming

  • Enhance operations by performing systems analysis; suggest modifications in procedures and policies

  • Acquire and license software by getting the necessary information from vendors; suggest purchases, as well as examine and validate products

  • Ensure confidentiality with company information to safeguard its operations

  • Generate information for company by collating data, summarizing them, and performing analysis on service and developmental issues

  • Works to achieve day-to-day objectives with moderate impact on the project team.

Communication

  • Communicates with colleagues across multiple areas (project managers, other technical resources, etc.).

  • Explains technical solutions, practices and procedures to others within the organization.

  • Work with multiple teams based in different locations and time zones.

  • Collaborate closely with software developers and product engineers to ensure security principles are applied consistently throughout

  • Willingness to learn and share knowledge with peers

  • Continually build relationships with internal stakeholders to achieve the successful completion of projects

Skills & Attributes

  • Must have a strong understanding of sound software development principles and practices.

  • Experience in (UML) modelling to capture system design.

  • Knowledge of enterprise level platforms, including VMWare, Windows, Linux and Kubernetes

  • Self motivated to learn new skills

  • Good understanding of Object Oriented Programming (Abstraction, Inheritance, Polymorphism, etc.)

  • Experience of hardware connectivity, interfaces,  and  communication protocols

  • Experience in one or more of the following JSON, Message Queues, Micro Services, REST services, Windows Services

Experience

  • Developing enterprise level software solutions

  • Wide ranging technical background

  • Exposure to people screening processes and solutions

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or additional experience
