Job Description:
The Production Quality Test Inspector is responsible for reviewing, compiling, identifying, and resolving issues from the manufacture of complex Conveyer systems and control panels. In this role, the job holder will carry out “in line inspection and Test ”, conduct Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) with technical stake holders to identify process, build and design issues and opportunities for improvement.
This role will also be responsible for carrying out” Pre-ship” Quality checks and facilitate factory acceptance test before releasing the product from the factory into the Warehouse / Customer.
The in-line testing could also include programming the conveyor control systems and testing them. Quality testing feedback will be used by the Engineering/Product Development/ Production teams to improve the products and services to increase customer satisfaction, product reliability and profitability.
The job holder will work with Production staff to carry out “ in-Line” inspection activities at key points in Production and record the inspection results maintaining records to produce product factory acceptance testing prior to shipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor and inspect in line product quality and product functional performance highlighting any non-conformances and trending issues; prioritize based on severity, occurrence, safety and/or cost of each failure mode.
Work with the production team to implement any corrective action.
Work with the Production team to instigate finished product concessions (where applicable)
Assess performance against estimates and drive appropriate RCCA for variances.
Lead, plan, coordinate, and execute detailed RCCA activities with subject matter experts. Use all quality tools available to drive the best solution in a timely manner. Hold review meetings with Engineering/Product management to present results and drive change.
Actively participate in project meetings and represent the customer needs throughout the gated Product Realization Process (PRP).
Review service requirements, procedures and manuals; provide timely and meaningful feedback.
Participate in continuous improvement activities and make recommendations to improve the product design and service processes.
Education and / or Experience
HNC/ONC in Electrical /Mechanical Engineering / IT with relevant work experience in a manufacturing engineering or quality engineering role, ideally in the conveyor manufacturing industry.
Qualification and Experience in Information Technology (Programming) would be a distinct advantage.
Experience with CAPA and 8D structured problem solving to address root cause of failures.
Proficient statistical analysis skills; Working knowledge of Quality Data and Quality Data systems.
Strong customer focus and influence skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Other skills and abilities:
Excellent interpersonal skills and can work well will internal and external customers
Communication skills, both verbal and written are required.
Ability to interpret Technical Drawings both electrical and mechanical will be essential.
Ability to use inspection tools, Micrometer, Vernier caliper etc.
Experience in Information Technology (Programming) would be a distinct advantage.
Team player with ability to priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Ability to perform multiple activities simultaneously and independently.
