Qualified and Experienced Senior Project Manager with Portfolio, Project and Service Management experience of small to medium size and high complexity deliveries (£5m – £30m p/a), who has a breadth of experience within one or more of the following domains:

  • National Security – Home Office, UKIC, Policing, NCA

  • Defence – Defence Intelligence, Offence Cyber, Defence Digital

Candidates also need to have experience showing individual contribution or leadership within the following Business Lifecycle phases:

  • Business Development Activities/Customer Engagement to shape requirements and offers, including Client side working.

  • Start-up experience – mobilization of contracts within complex environments

  • Management and leadership of BAU contract phase, including developing and delivering On Contract Growth

  • Exit and contract close out

  • Project intervention, problem resolution and RTG planning for Red and at risk projects within complex environments e.g. policing and Intelligence domains.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Senior Project Manager, to work alongside the Senior Programme Manager for our Government client.  Supporting a multi-functional team and to manage the scheduling of project delivery, change and new business.  This position is a full time, permanent role and applicants must have SC clearance or be willing to undergo the clearance process.

You will be working as part of the engineering team supporting the Home Office Biometrics (HOB) Programme’s Strategic Central and Bureau Platforms. Working to assist with the implementation of change to HOB’s biometrics systems.

You will be self-motivated and be able to work autonomously and also within a team to achieve day to day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables, whilst also owning a variety of activities ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPI’s and SLA’s. You must be an effective communicator, comfortable directly engaging with customers and colleagues. You must also demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to project and technical challenges.

The Senior Project Manager’s duties and responsibilities include ensuring teams meet all scope requirements by completing jobs properly according to their contract or agreement with the client. In addition, they must provide concrete guidance on what everyone needs to do and the most efficient way to complete each step.

Your Role and Responsibilities;

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.

  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.

  • Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders.

  • Ensure resource availability and allocation.

  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.

  • Report and escalate to management as needed.

  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.

  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

  • Have an understanding of the high level technical requirements to converse with the customer and project teams effectively.

  • We are looking for someone with excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills who has:

The following skills are desirable:

  • Proven track record in successfully delivering projects or task work packages.

  • Able to demonstrate experience (minimum 5 years) in Project Management.

  • Able to demonstrate experience in management of technical software delivery projects.

  • Experience in SAFe Agile and Waterfall models of delivery cycles.

  • Good interpersonal skills and judgement for dealing with both internal and external stakeholders to develop strong working relations to support achieving objectives.

  • Ability to engage and work within a multi-functional programme team comprising both customer, supplier and internal staff with an awareness of engineering principles.

  • Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of business, finance and personnel management techniques and the commercial aspects of projects.

  • The ability to communicate, negotiate and influence effectively.

  • Enthusiastic self-starter with good verbal communication.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Technical background in System Engineering, Software development or Software testing.

Candidates need to demonstrate Line management and leadership experience

Candidates must be certified to APM, Prince 2 or Agile Prince 2

Clearance: Candidate must be a UK National and be eligible to obtain SC clearance.
