Description

IT Support Engineer

Bedford

Provide 1st, 2nd, 3rd line support; track hardware and asset management; configure remote access hardware.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Technical

  • Responsible for remote support and onsite maintenance of our checkpoint automation, PC and server hardware; Maintain Windows and SQL Server environments; configure and install APC UPS’s;.

Time Management

  • Shifted between Full time office hours out of office hours dependant on rota

Communication

  • Direct report to the Support Manager.

  • Working with Development and Testing implementation departments on checkpoint systems.

Team Working

  • Working within the Service Department and with the Development and Testing implementation departments on current and future systems

Cross Functional Working

  • Continually build relationships with internal stakeholders to achieve the successful maintenance of checkpoint assets

  • Will need to work with the commissioning team to gain controls experience and understanding of the interfaced systems

Health & Safety

  • Always follow and promote Group and Company policies and procedures  

  • Ensure all Company equipment and personal PPE properly used

Skills & Attributes

  • High level IT knowledge

  • PLC Controls Background

Experience

  • Proven experience of technical support

  • Previous experience in a similar working environment

  • Solid working knowledge of:

    • Windows Server

    • SQL Server

    • Windows Operating System

    • Network Infrastructure and cabling

    • High Level Problem solving

    • 5 Year traceable work history

    • Fluent Written and Spoken English

    • Valid UK Passport

    • Wide ranging technical background

Previous experience in all or some of the following areas:  

  • Automation

  • Conveyor systems

  • Control systems

  • Electrical power systems

Qualifications

IT, Electrical & Controls qualifications to be taken into consideration
