You will lead and inspire the National Security & Defence (NS&D) division, build presence and assurance in the customer communities (Defence, Home Office and Intelligence), create a clear strategy and plan ensuring the divisional management team is set-up for success with a focus on business development and operational excellence.
Drive growth through scale, depth, working closely with US colleagues, utilising existing IP and industry partnerships to provide an innovative and disruptive offering. You will be accountable for developing and achieving an Annual Operating Plan of c£130M. This will include managing portfolios of programmes and ensure that they individually and combined meet the revenue, operating income, cash and other support metrics on a monthly, quarterly and annualized basis. The DM provides all direction, program execution and growth requirements for the divisional and support teams.
Role Overview:
You will be responsible to grow and continue to develop the National Security & Defence strategy and be a key contributor to the regional growth strategy.
The principal job function will be to perform the role of Profit and Loss (P&L) lead for the national security sector, to include supervising program execution of all programs and steer all personnel in the division, as well as reporting to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Chief Executive (CE).
Working in partnership with the Business Development function, you will actively shape the pipeline for future growth with a focus on technology including but not limited to agile software development and integration, communications, cyber, data analytics, machine learning and automation; so building and directing a competitive and market leading proposition and flawless delivery of existing programs, while ensuring Leidos has the right balance and operational capability to meet current and future requirements for both programme performance and new business capture.
Key Capabilities:
You will require significant business experience and commercial acumen gained within the Defence and Security sector or from Management Consultancy and demonstrate the vision and energy to shape and influence a market leading, differentiated and innovative defence business. Your background will be underpinned by a track record of significant delivery and contacts at the most senior level within the Military, Agency, Government and Commercial worlds.
Be a highly respected leader, with prior experience of P&L ownership within a substantial defence technology/consultancy organisation, preferably within software development programmes.
Supervise the Division management team and provide direction to all division staff, including supervising their training, health and welfare, deployment/redeployment, and all other support activities in conjunction with the functional staff.
Excellent skills in portfolio and program management; ensure flawless programme execution of existing contracts.
Achieve target revenue, OI, cash and utilisation across the business areas.
Ability to make difficult decisions that impact programme execution and business growth.
Possess strong affinity with technology; adept at engaging on issues of technical detail and complexity with senior stakeholders.
Share your ability to develop a coherent, multi-customer account strategy, addressing both short-term requirements and longer-term opportunities.
Demonstrate personal impact to engage effectively at the all C-suite senior levels, and with the emotional intelligence & people skills to work with colleagues from a range of backgrounds & cultures.
Meet or exceed all financial growth objectives for Defence, consistent with the Annual Operating Plan.
