Description

Project Engineer

Based from our Bedford office with regular travel

Are you a Project Engineer ready to support in driving critical automation projects at busy airports?

As a Project Engineer here at Leidos, you will support Program Managers in the delivery of our Security and Detection product contracts, from preparing proposals, project planning and execution through to delivery across the EMEAI Region.

You’ll be involved in managing cost, schedule, and technical performance of major programs/service across the program lifecycle, paying close attention to contract requirements and coordinating internal teams from Engineering and Manufacturing to supply chain and quality to ensure we deliver on time, to budget and is compliant with contract requirements.

You’re a technically minded Project Engineer, able to plan and support the technical design and development effort and take part in preliminary and concept Design Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews.  You’ll also take an active role in internal program reviews and periodically review detailed technical, cost, and schedule performance alongside the Project Manager. You’ll also work with departmental managers to ensure the project is correctly and fully resourced.

You’re a great communicator, working closely with internal and external teams to drive projects to conclusion. You’ll provide regular status and technical reports, conduct program and gate reviews, preparing written proposals and statements of work.

You’re a problem solver – busy airports don’t stop to allow us to install new machinery, you’ll need to find ways to work around a live environment and not disrupt the flow of passengers. Should any issues come up throughout the project, you can find solutions.

You’ll work within an evolving industry which continues to grow following the pandemic, with an ever-changing landscape from evolving technology to the updating regulations and legislation which should keep you on your toes!

If you take satisfaction from seeing the project progress, watching automation being built up from the ground – then you find this role particularly rewarding.

Why should you join our Program Team?

We are problem solvers – we often have to think on our feet to solve engineering problems, minimising downtime and finding solutions to challenges.

Growing Industry – technology is evolving, our customers are evolving. As a heavily regulated industry, new legislations and considerations mean we have to be adaptable in our approach.

Reward – we offer a competitive package with great benefits from a pension scheme (contribution matched up to 8%), private medical insurance and life assurance with loads of flexible benefits including dental insurance, gym flex and shopping discounts. This role also comes with a car/car allowance, overtime and out of hours allowance.

About You

A Technical Project Engineer with proven experience of delivering successful programs.

Some experience in the automation or manufacturing sectors, ideally with knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and configuration management principles.

Excellent communication skills – able to move projects forward, motivate teams to meet deadlines and keep customers updated on progress.

Problem solver – keeping projects on track, mitigating any issues which may arise throughout the course of a project which could cause delays. Solving customer queries and incorporating any changes they want to make part way through.

Solid experience in budgeting, forecasting, procurement and cost proposal generation with the ability to articulate financial information fluently.

You will require a full, clean UK driving license. There will also be some travel required across the UK and internationally for short periods.

Due to the nature of the role, you must be able to obtain and maintain BPSS security clearance / airside pass.
