Description

Electrical Design Controls Engineer

Ideally based at our Kempston site

Are you an Electrical Engineer within the Automotive industry, confident in using EPLAN?

We have recently won some major projects within the UK and overseas and as a result, we are seeking an Electrical Design Controls Engineer to support the delivery of work packages for our prestigious automotive customers.

By taking a hands-on approach to the job, you will apply electrical engineering principles and design methodologies to support product and safety requirements of the electrical engineering teams’ designs to the meet relevant BS EN, IEC, ISO and Customer standards.

You will work within a multi-disciplined team, an element of hybrid working is required during the design phases and from the Customer’s site during installation, commissioning and user acceptance phases.

At Leidos, responsibilities of an Electrical Design Controls Engineer are:

Preparing electrical engineering designs, documentation, recommendations.

Providing technical support for electrical engineering reviews, projects.

Meeting engineering compliance and safety guidelines by working to both UK and international safety standards and regulations for assigned design activities.

Ensuring electrical designs meet internal and external Customer specifications and fulfil the specification requirements of their assigned tasks.

Creating engineered solutions, quality validation and evaluation requirements of electrical designs.

Troubleshooting electrical design issues associated with production and operational dilemmas.

Ensuring change control procedures are followed and documented.

About You

A proficient user of EPLAN design package to prepare: Circuit diagrams, panel schedules, Field cabling, Bill Of Materials, Single line diagrams etc.

Able to apply engineering first principles to electrical and safety designs.

Must have the ability to read and understand:

  • Electrical schematics
  • Mechanical engineering drawings in electronic (ACAD) or hardcopy format
  • Functional Design Specifications.

Experience with functional safety and safe systems

Ideally some experience of using ACAD

Working knowledge of Microsoft Project & Visio

Ability to use MS Excel to manipulate data using formulas, macros and tables to present information and charts to assist in the analysis to technical issues

Experience in electrical controls design in an automotive OEM, Systems Integrator or Controls environment
