Procurement & Supply Apprentice 

Based from our Wickford office

Are you looking for apprenticeship where you can learn a wide range of skills, work with customers and suppliers in a small, friendly team and part of a global manufacturer?

Leidos is a truly global business, supplying several industries from Automotive manufacturing, airport security and detection equipment to energy. From our site in Wickford (Essex), we design and manufacture a number of parts, jigs and fixtures which are used in the process of manufacturing new cars.

We are looking for an apprentice to join our Procurement & Supply team, to learn and perform procurement duties to ensure the business has a continuous supply of parts, machinery and materials so we can fulfil customer orders.

As part of your apprenticeship, you will receive extensive on-the-job training and mentoring form the team, you will complete a Level 3 Apprenticeship through CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) which is an 19 month course and also have access to our learning portal to hone your knowledge and skills in a wide range of other business areas from getting better at using Excel to career building courses like Team Leading

Some of your duties as a Procurement & Supply Apprentice will be;

  • To carry out the effective procurement of materials and services in-line with the business needs
  • Monitor relevant Engineering releases, requisitions and follow up with manufacturing
  • Ensure that all items for procurement are within the relevant budget and comply with all appropriate strategies, and to raise any anomalies
  • Monitor and appropriately report cost and delivery performance against the relevant budgets and timing plans
  • Daily order progressing
  • Investigate any invoice, cost or quality queries

About You

Confident in communicating with lots of different people – you’ll be talking to customers, suppliers and internal teams including engineering and manufacturing.

Good attention to detail and organisation skills.

Able to work in a team and independently.

Capable problem solver

English and Maths GCSEs at Level 5 or above

Ideally hold a driving license or at least able to commute to Wickford on daily basis.

Due to the nature of our business, you must be able to obtain and maintain BPSS clearance.
