Description

Systems Test Engineer

Based in Bedford with travel to company sites

Permanent

The Aviation team in Bedford at Leidos currently has an opening for a System Test Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for testing software, hardware and test reporting for Security Detection & Automation systems.

The System Test Engineer will be working on a sophisticated suite of applications, testing their interfaces as well as other key back end technologies. You will be fully immersed on all our security, part of a team helping us to deliver a large scale systems integration programme that is critical the overall worldwide aviation security infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work independently, or with a team of software and systems test engineers; must be knowledgeable in industry-standard testing.
  • Working closely with Development Team sharing test result, and working with them to fix all potential bugs.
  • Edit, create, maintain, Test plans, assist with creation of test plans, procedures and reports detailing the test process and infrastructure to appropriately assess that products/deliverables meet defined requirements.
  • Test and Install internal software packages & 3rd party software
  • Test and install Leidos built PC’S
  • Performance testing on our integrated systems
  • Testing new hardware (PC’S, Scanners, Monitors, etc to see if they are fit for purpose)
  • Testing in-house and 3rd party software
  • Network testing.

About You

  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 to 2017 +.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 2012 to 2016 +
  • High level of general IT knowledge.
  • Good working knowledge of Windows operating systems – Win7 , 10.
  • Basic working knowledge of Linux Operating System
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word and Excel minimum).
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum
  • Experience in Functional Testing
  • Experience in Performance Testing
  • Experience in Integration Testing
  • Extensive experience analyzing requirements and design documentation
  • Be available for customer site travel
  • Be available for travel to other Leidos facilities
  • Good communication skills

Ideally you will have:

  • Experience with Mobile and Web Application testing
  • Extensive demonstrable experience developing test plans
  • Experience executing tests analysis and documenting results
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes

Due to the nature of our business, you will need to pass and maintain BPSS clearance.

You will need a full UK driving license.

The role will include travel about half of the time, this could be within the UK, to the US and across Europe. It is preferred that you have a valid UK passport to enable ease of access and obtaining airside passes where necessary.
