Description

Technical Lead for Industrial Automation Projects

Overview: As a Technical Lead for Industrial Automation Projects, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of automation projects in the industrial sector, with a focus on Body in White (BIW) delivery, electrical controls, industrial robotic applications, compliance, and machine safety. You will lead a team of engineers and technicians to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Management:

  • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to execute projects effectively.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.

Technical Leadership:

  • Provide technical guidance and expertise in BIW delivery, electrical controls, robotic applications, compliance, and machine safety.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of automation solutions that meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Mentor and coach team members to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, programmers, designers, and project managers, to achieve project objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide project updates, address concerns, and solicit feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure that all automation projects comply with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to mitigate potential hazards associated with automated systems.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in industrial automation to ensure compliance and safety.

Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability, performance, and accuracy of automation systems.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of automation solutions to identify and address any defects or deficiencies.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of automation processes.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Extensive experience in industrial automation, with a focus on BIW delivery, electrical controls, robotic applications, compliance, and machine safety.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing automation projects from conception to completion.
  • In-depth knowledge of automation technologies, programming languages, and control systems (e.g., PLC, HMI, SCADA).
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards (e.g., ISO, ANSI, OSHA), and safety protocols in industrial environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., Certified Automation Professional, Functional Safety Professional) are a plus.
