EMEA Mobility Tax Specialist

The Role:

This is a new position reporting to the Payroll Tax & Compliance manager which will play an important role in managing risks and executing compliance requirements related to cross border travel for employees based in Europe and the Middle East

What will I be doing?

  • Work with EME Payroll Tax Compliance Manager to manage Short Term Business Visitor Reporting in the UK and any other applicable business traveller returns to determine when tax nexus is tripped and work with the team to take appropriate next actions
  • Provide guidance and direction to the UK-based business in all immigration & payroll tax matters, ensuring compliance and payroll tax risks are managed and documented
  • The position requires the ability for independent thinking/critical analysis and is expected to stay current on complex immigration and global tax regulations with the ability to timely evaluate and/or assist in executing processes that address changing regulatory requirements and the evolutionary needs of the business
  • Support local HR Business Partners, leadership and other internal stakeholders in all activities involved in the cross-border movement of employees traveling in Europe and the Middle East
  • Explain the core concepts of global tax to non-specialists (tax equalization, tax protection, laissez faire)
  • Work in close collaboration with our Global Mobility colleagues to ensure that business travellers, teleworkers and Expat assignees have appropriate visas & immigration paperwork to perform job duties while working outside their home country
  • Work with Leidos US & UK Payroll teams to track employees on Shadow / Modified payrolls
  • Ability to identify & provide guidance on the correct tax treatments for different type work visa/permits
  • Work with the Global Payroll team to provide recommendations for updates on processes and controls specific to tracking employee business travel
  • Liaise with HMRC and other third parties to support the business needs
  • Assistance with the operation of HMRC appendices 4,5,6,7 & 8
  • Assistance with the operation of HMRC Certificates of coverage/A1
  • Assistance with the operation of EU Posted Workers Directive Notification (PWDN)

  • Strong technical skills and keen to develop further
  • Previous relevant experience

It would be beneficial if you had:

  • A firm understanding of basic payroll tax (wages & social security) planning
  • ATT/CTA qualified/part qualified.

Clearance Requirements: Applicants will need to be eligible for BPSS Clearance
