The Role:

Leidos Europe is looking for a Planning & Analysis Finance Business Partner to join the UK team based in Bristol. Leidos works closely with its customers to provide ongoing support and services to multiple public sector organisations. This role is primarily concerned with Leidos Europe’s largest contract, which supports the UK MoD’s procurement, storage and distribution activities. 

The role offers the opportunity to work on cross functional teams; interfacing with, Programme Management, Scheduling, Distribution and Procurement Cost Management, Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis.

You will need to demonstrate enthusiasm, determination, an ability to build productive relationships across diverse skillsets and ultimately will need to deliver on time and to a high quality in a fast paced dynamic environment. It is important that you are a ‘team player’ mind-set, as sharing knowledge with existing members of the highly skilled Finance Team will be critical to success.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Be a key member of the Programme Team, representing Finance and providing subject matter expertise
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to all customers and stakeholders
  • Be the Finance Business Partner for the ‘new business’ additions to the core contract. This includes:
    • Responsible for consolidating and verifying new business pricing proposals
    • Track proposal status and distribute commercial documentation
    • Monitor & report project performance against budget
    • Engage with Project Managers to obtain updated project forecasts
  • Own cost savings models relating to distribution and freight. This includes:
    • Update & analyse complex data models on a monthly basis.
    • Close out models for year-end profit share claim and negotiate with the customer
    • Business partner with subcontractors & grow cost saving performance
  • Bi-annual compilation of the long term forecast for the full programme; including budget setting for the immediate subsequent year
  • Perform month end tasks, such as in-year forecasting, analysis of actuals & variance commentary
  • Oversee admin tasks related to staff costs, such as setting up charge codes & supporting recruitment process
  • Provide excellent ad hoc support to a wide variety of stakeholders both within the finance leadership team, and within wider operational teams
  • Collaborate with the customer and respond to customer queries and audit requests
  • Support external audit where required
  • Appropriately delegate tasks associated with the above responsibilities to two direct reports
  • Manage and support the development of the two direct reports

Required Skills:

  • Business (Finance) Acumen
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Organised and thorough, with attention to detail
  • Team player but able to work independently and proactively
  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively to complete work assignments
  • Good time management with the ability to achieve deadlines
  • Capable of operating to tight schedules in a demanding environment
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • IT proficient (MS Office)
  • Experience with Financial Modelling using Excel
  • Experience with Data Analysis with large data sets

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working within an operations-facing finance team, acting as a Business Partner to key Operational Managers & Executives
  • Experience with SQL querying
  • Experience with tools similar to COBRA or Primavera
  • Experience with Altyerx & Power BI (or similar)
  • Qualified or intending to qualify with a professional body (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Background in Mathematics, Modelling, Economics, Science, Business or Finance

The successful candidate will be from a multi-disciplinary background with a proven track record of having demonstrated the key competences listed above.
