Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer

Location: Skypark, Glasgow

The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Infrastructure Engineer with extensive Cloud experience to join our team in the UK.

You will play a crucial role in supporting the cloud roadmap and providing infrastructure support for CIO Services.  This position is internal, not customer facing and involves supporting both project-based and operational efforts to leverage cloud technologies effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the roadmap for CIO Services, including Cloud capabilities, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technological advancements
  • Collaborate with team members over various areas of Infrastructure
  • Support project-based initiatives by assisting in the design, implementation, and managing solutions that meet project requirements
  • Provide operational support for cloud environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security
  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand their needs and provide cloud-based solutions that drive business value
  • Occasionally travel to various sites around the UK to support business engagement and solution deployments

Skills Required:

  • Typically responsible for coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level technical staff
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in cloud technologies, including but not limited to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, services, and best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure problems and cloud-related issues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Relevant certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect) are a plus
