Based in our RAF Lakenheath client’s office, you will be responsible for the development of solutions and designs for complex electrical systems related to facilities, infrastructure, and utility systems (E.g., facility electrical systems and high voltage distribution systems), as well as design and project development for works ranging in value from £100,000 to over £3 million. You will be a team player and able to support the delivery of multiple projects and provide technical electrical engineering advice to the client’s project managers, planners, and tradesmen. You will work directly with the client to ensure requirements are clearly captured and embodied in the US approval and funding documents to initiate projects for execution via the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) delivery partner or directly under US Air Force procurement route.
You will also be expected to leverage your knowledge and experience in a collaborative working environment comprised of both U.S. and UK professionals from across a multitude of disciplines to manage projects and deliver to challenging timelines. This role requires provision of electrical engineering advice to colleagues of other disciplines but dependent on capacity you will also be expected to project manage projects as lead PM.
You will be required to assist in establishing the client's requirements, applying UK & MOD statutory and mandatory design and construction standards and US Regulations and standards to ensure project requirements adequately account for both UK & US standards. Your main focus will be defence sector projects, and you will be expected to interface daily with the U.S. client, U.S. agencies, U.K. agencies and associated design consultants and contractors.
In this post you will provide project development advice and manage the process to agree a clear and compliant statement of requirements in accordance with US programming regulations. You will assess and review the design/AE consultant or contractor’s designs and provide engineering comments in your discipline for your projects and others in the team. Once the project is approved then you will provide project management and oversight working with your Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) counterparts on what could be described as a ‘cradle to grave’ ownership as the clients representative. You will assist in works handover inspections to provide professional advice to the client on acceptability of the works
You will be responsible for regularly updating the clients project management data base to ensure necessary data is captured and remains current.
