Job Description:
Reporting directly to the Virtual Commissioning, Robotics, Vision & AI Systems Manager, the primary responsibility of this position is to support and lead the software development of multiple products and bespoke machine vision system application for the automotive, baggage/material handling and FMCG industries.
Key responsibilities will also include:
Leading creative thinking, generating and developing concepts that provide an original, appropriate and effective solutions.
Project managing the full Software development lifecycle starting from no code to installing and integrating the solution at the customer’s site.
R&D trials for customer requirements including camera, lighting, software and algorithm development.
Planning, organising and scoping projects of all sizes, delegating effectively to deliver on time and on budget.
Providing technical leadership and implementation guidance.
Development of best practices and training materials on the usage and authoring of work instructions within the team.
Ensuring resources are applied in an efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements while achieving quality and safety standards.
Ensuring team members follow defined standard procedures and comply with quality requirements.
Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including engagement of external resources as required.
Undertake continuous improvement and training.
About you:
You will have a record of accomplishment as a “hands on” Vision Systems Engineer, together with proven experience of successfully developing and building software capability and best practices in machine vision technologies, coupled with:
BSc or equivalent in a technical discipline with proven experience in vision system technologies.
Exceptional programming skills and software engineering principles with 5 or more years programming in at least one industry-standard language (C++, C#, C, Payton Java)
Advanced experience Programming in VBA & VB.NET.
Advanced Programming experience in MATLAB and Simulink
Industrial experience of developing and installing machine vision systems. (Halcon/MIL/OpenCV/Sherlock - advantageous).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Demonstrate project management and/or maintenance, experience.
Strong computer skills required. Experience with MS Office and Project.
Understanding of robotic & PLC applications an advantageous.
Ability to read electrical drawings advantageous.
Ability to configure and diagnose computer IT networks.
